Gokul Pathikonda | Post Doctoral Researcher | Mechanical Engineering
- Working on experiments to understand turbulence and mixing characteristics in Richtmyer-Meshkov Instabilities (in shock tube), unstably stratified mixing flows (in gas tunnel), and coaxial jet flows.
- Expertise with optical diagnostic techniques (PIV; Refractive index-matching, RIM), Hotwire anemometry, signal processing and statistical analyses.
- Received PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (2017) and MS in Aerospace Engineering (2013) at University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign with Prof. Kenneth T. Christensen working on inner-outer scale interactions in rough-wall turbulent boundary layers at high Reynolds numbers.

- Mentoring students with designs of experimental setups, machining (CNC, prototyping), selecting materials and equipment for their projects.
- Building a wind tunnel for turbulent mixing experiments.
- Previous research areas are high Reynolds number turbulent flows, jet fuel combustion, micro-cryo-coolers, wind energy harvesters, flow control for flight applications, and heat exchangers. Field and wind tunnel experiments conducted all over the world.
- Received PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Tel-Aviv University in 2006, M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel-Aviv University in 2001, and M.Sc. (Cum Laude) in Metallurgical Engineering form Dnipropetrovs’k Metallurgical Institute in 1993.
